Traditional sign writing skills

Fullers Red Lion

Omega Signs continue to use many of the of the traditional sign writing skills which are so important in pub signage.

Fullers Red Lion pub, near Hillingdon brings past and present together in a luxurious and relaxing stay. The external pub signage needed to meet the high standards of the interior.

The revamp of the Red Lion pub was to include all the external features from the pictorial sign, the amenity boards and the outside of the building using many of traditional technical sign writing skills which Omega Signs remains so skilled in.

Following the painting of the building a sign writer went on site to paint the dramatic red lion logo and this same sign was replicated in other external signage.

The new projection sign featured a 3D lion effect and refreshed amenity board to reflect the luxurious image of the pub.

From old to new the effect has been dramatic but it is the attention to detail and strong design skills that have really bought this pub to life.

Traditional sign writing skills

Sign making has changed so much over the past 15 years.  The traditional processes of sign writing and gold leaf work can not be rushed. The processes are carefully chalked out and stencilled up and then the special paints are applied with delicate brushes by hand. It takes real attention to
detail by time served craftsmen.

Managing Director, Duncan Chapman added “ Of all
the processes in the factory the one that fascinates all our customers during their
visits is the Gold Leaf area. People are amazed at the care and attention to detail that
our people use –many competitors have let these old skills die out so our customers
think it’s great to see this work in action!”
