Asda signage rollout

Case Studyasda signage rollout

omega signs have had a strong relationship with asda for nearly 20 years and have been involved in many of their signage rollout projects. the takeover of budget retailer netto in 2011 has undoubtedly been the biggest project to date.

between may and november asda converted 141 netto stores to asda supermarkets and omega managed the full internal and external re-branding of all the stores. the requirement by asda was to develop an appropriate signage package that was both repeatable and flexible allowing it to work across a variety of different building formats throughout the estate.

omega were tasked with helping to develop and design the signage package from the beginning. the benefit of this early involvement was that omega could ensure value and best design were incorporated into the specifications right from the start. with a project such as this, engineering the detail to ensure lowest cost combined with ‘fit for purpose ‘ specifications was absolutely key.

the logistics of the project were also huge with 141 stores being rebranded in total at a rate of 8 stores a week! although each store was typically closed for two weeks for complete refurbishment the omega installation window was just 5 days. the tight deadline meant that the emphasis had to be on ‘right first time every time’ managing any last minute extras and changes within the timeline.

the result was that 100% of stores were opened with signage fully complete and snag free within the tight timeframe which was a tremendous achievement by everyone involved.

“we worked really hard together to get a sign pack that was streamline and flexible. this had two upsides – it drove cost down by standardization, but also made it very efficient and deliverable. asda were delighted with the resulting cost savings.”
